Fringe Flicks is a series of film nights in Liverpool run by People Versus TV. We showcase short films, videos, and feature-length films that are unconventional, experimental, subversive, or just downright stupid. Our events provide a platform for artists to present their work and for audiences to experience unique and thought-provoking cinema. Fringe Flicks aims to create a space for creative expression and offers a chance for people interested in weird film to meet each other and chat.
On Friday, October 18th, 2024, we enjoyed a spine-tingling edition of Fringe Flicks at DoES Liverpool.
The evening's highlight was Viy, the Soviet horror classic based on Nikolai Gogol's novella. This atmospheric and eerie film is celebrated for its groundbreaking practical effects, bringing to life supernatural elements like flying coffins, rising corpses, and the terrifying demon Viy himself.
