Fringe Flicks is a series of film nights in Liverpool run by People Versus TV. We showcase short films, videos, and feature-length films that are unconventional, experimental, subversive, or just downright stupid. Our events provide a platform for artists to present their work and for audiences to experience unique and thought-provoking cinema. Fringe Flicks aims to create a space for creative expression and offers a chance for people interested in weird film to meet each other and chat.
December 2024 Recap
Special Screening: Food by Jan Švankmajer
We featured Food, a surreal stop-motion short by the legendary Czech filmmaker Jan Švankmajer. Known for his unique style that blends animation and live-action, Švankmajer’s work is celebrated for its dark humour and surreal exploration of the mundane. In Food, he delves into the rituals of eating with a bizarre and thought-provoking lens. To celebrate we had an alternative film poster specially designed by Jomo.

- Addled Brain is a snapshot of daily life for someone diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. It is designed to offer the viewer some insight into how the protagonist's brain works or doesn't work on a day-to-day basis. Told through the lens of a simple morning routine, it has some subtle, and other more obvious references to different aspects of neurodiversity, as well as paying homage to some of their favourite film-makers.
