Fringe Flicks is a series of film nights in Liverpool run by People Versus TV. We showcase short films, videos, and feature-length films that are unconventional, experimental, subversive, or just downright stupid. Our events provide a platform for artists to present their work and for audiences to experience unique and thought-provoking independent films. Fringe Flicks aims to create a space for creative expression and offers a chance for people interested in weird film to meet each other and chat.
Our April edition of Fringe Flicks brought another night of bold and boundary-pushing cinema to DoES Liverpool, headlined by Kenneth Anger’s Lucifer Rising—a hypnotic, occult-infused film blending myth, ritual, and surreal imagery with a legendary soundtrack by Bobby Beausoleil. A defining work of underground cinema, Lucifer Rising conjured cosmic forces and esoteric visions like no other.
Alongside it, we screened a hand-picked selection of experimental, surreal, and subversive short films from around the world, delving into themes of transformation, reality shifts, and unseen forces at play.
The audience voted for their favourite film as part of our People’s Choice Award.
