Cardboard Liverpool is a collectively made miniature city built from cardboard, paper, hot glue, tape and whatever else was lying around.
Earlier this summer, People Versus TV held a special collaborative making session at Metal, inviting people to build their own tiny pieces of Liverpool. Some recreated familiar landmarks and buildings, while others invented shops, streets, future ruins and places that have never existed.
There was no single plan for what Liverpool was supposed to look like. The city grew from lots of different people’s ideas, styles and memories, gradually becoming a strange shared version of the place.
Liverpool Community Print Station and Prints n Tha have now invited Cardboard Liverpool to appear at Zine Station, giving the work another public life beyond the session where it was made.
Cardboard Liverpool originally grew out of experiments around PVTV’s handmade sci-fi project The Visionaries, but has increasingly become a collaborative artwork in its own right.
