Building Miniature Cardboard Liverpool for The Visionaries
This special Creative Meet-Up is focused on building miniature cardboard Liverpool elements for The Visionaries, PVTV’s satirical sci-fi short film currently in development.
The Visionaries uses a hybrid production style combining miniature sets, green screen live action, puppetry, 3D animation and Unreal Engine compositing. For this session, we’ll be making small handmade pieces of the film’s world: buildings, streets, textures, signs, odd details and fragments of a distorted alternate Liverpool.
You don’t need any experience in filmmaking, model making or art. The session will be informal, practical and low-pressure, with materials provided and plenty of room to experiment.
What to expect:
- Hands-on making: Build small cardboard structures, city details and miniature set pieces.
- Collaborative world-building: Help shape the look and feel of The Visionaries’ Liverpool.
- DIY film process: Get a glimpse into how PVTV uses miniatures, practical materials and digital tools to create unusual screen worlds.
- Low-pressure participation: You can join in whether you already make things or are just curious.
A note on contributing work to the film:
If you would like something you make during the session to be considered for inclusion in The Visionaries, we’ll need you to sign a simple permission form allowing PVTV to use it in the film and related project materials.
If you would rather just come along, take part in the activity and keep what you make, that is completely fine too. There is no pressure to contribute your work to the film.
Who can join:
Anyone interested in creative making, film, animation, model-making, set-building or experimental art.
No experience is necessary. You do not need to bring an idea. Just come along and get involved.
